Koojan Hills Included In Cohort 9 Angus Sire Benchmarking Program

We are very excited to have been included in the Angus Sire Benchmarking Program 2018 joining program (Cohort 9).

We are pleased to announce Koojan Hills Up River M91 was selected for the Cohort 9 program - a project which helps demonstrate the value of performance recording, genetic evaluation and selection using Angus BREEDPLAN estimated Breeding Values and Selection Indexes.

From the 50+ bulls nominated, M91 was one of the 22 bulls selected for entry in this years joining program. This program includes approximately 1,300 Angus cows, across 4 co-operator herds that are joined via the Vetoquinol Fixed Time AI products and protocols. 

The aim is to join M91 to at least 58 females to produce 30 calves. We are very excited to see how his progeny perform against some of the best young Angus sires in Australia.

We rated M91 as the pick of all the M series bulls at Koojan Hills and used him in 2017 on a group of heifers as a back up to the AI program. We now have 19 calves by him who are beginning to impress with a little extra thickness! We again used him in our 2018 breeding program on a mob of first calvers.

M91 is a deep-bodied bull who displays good neck extension and athleticism. As a rising 3 year old, M91 is developing into a very thick sire while maintaining a soft, easy doing appearance. His low birthweight and flawless temperament has helped make M91 a favourite at Koojan Hills.
