IVF at Koojan Hills
This October we undertook our first IVF program with Inventia Genetic Technologies on some of our elite females. IVF is a new venture to Western Australia which typically sees a lot of success in MOET programs.
Our priority was to use IVF to capture ovums from cows who we have recently struggled to collect via our traditional MOET programs.
In particular we wanted to collect embryos out of our most influential cow, G189. At 14 years old G189 is the dam of Koojan Hills President P231 as well as our most exciting up and coming sire Koojan Hills Uncle Ris U58.
We managed to collect 6 embryos out of G189 which is a huge result for us considering how much we value her. She still stands on close to perfect feet, breeds outstanding docility and is a daughter of the highly regarded Bangadang C9.
Other cows who collected well include M183, L47, K64 and P114, the dam of our top sire Koojan Hills Trident T288.
